Mrs. Vaughns 1st graders enjoyed playing a game of "headbands" on this rainy Thursday. โ๏ธโ๏ธ

Our teachers recently took a closer look at the vocabulary words used in their daily read alouds and shared their plans with teammates. ๐
Teachers also collaborated to sort synonyms and antonyms on a gradient chart according to their meanings. We are thankful for our district taking initiative to provide teachers with strong professional development through LETRS training.๐

For the last three weeks, Mrs. Blantonโs first graders have been learning about our local community during their reading block. After learning about the vocabulary word โchurnโ, students discussed how farmers in our community work to provide milk so that we can have things like butter, ice cream, and other dairy products. To celebrate their learning, the class made butter, ate it, and wrote a thank you note to the Peeler Family at Milky Way Farms. ๐ฎ๐๐ง๐ปโ๐พ Thank you, local farmers!

We're exciting to kick off our Healthy Kids Running Club! Please look for information in your student's Friday Folder this week. When your child logs 26.2 miles over the course of the school year, turn in the log sheet for a free T-shirt and become a member of the Marathon Club.

We are so happy to have our Reading Buddies back with us this school year! Currently, we have seven reading buddies from the community who visit us weekly to read with our students. We look forward to seeing them each week! ๐
