The Kona Ice truck will visit Flat Rock on Thursday during lunchtime. Students may purchase a Kona Ice for $3. All proceeds go to our March of Dimes fundraiser. Thank you for your support!
The battle has begun! First and second graders are competing in Battle of the Books this week. Students have read 10 books that have been nominated for the SC Book Award. They are working in groups to answer questions in a bracketed tournament to determine a champion. Good luck to our first and second graders!
Tomorrow, Monday, January 13 is Solid Orange Day at Flat Rock! Wear orange or Clemson attire in support of Clemson’s participation in the National Championship.

On Wednesday at Flat Rock, we will continue Caroling in the Commons. Second grade will perform at 10:30, K5 at 11:15, and fourth at 1:15. We will also have Terrific Kid at 8:00, and it’s Ugly Christmas Sweater day.
On Tuesday, the caroling schedule will be first grade at 9:45 am, K4 at 11:15 am, 3rd grade at 12:30 pm, and 5th grade at 2:00 pm. On Wednesday, the caroling schedule will be second grade at 10:30 am, K5 at 11:15 am, and 4th grade at 1:15 pm.
We have a lot going on at Flat Rock this week. We will have caroling in the commons area on Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday is also Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. Thursday is PJ day. Students can pay $1 to wear their pajamas to school. Students must meet dress code. We will dismiss early on Friday at 12:10 pm. We look forward to seeing you this week.

Flat Rock's third graders are working hard to get ready for their play, "Karaoke Christmas." It will be held on Thursday, Dec. 12th at 6PM. All are welcome!

Congratulations! For the fifth year in a row, Flat Rock Elementary School and Michelin's Starr Plant have been named the #1 Challenge Education partnership in North America. We are so thankful for our Michelin business partner and the many ways they serve our school.
Congratulations to Flat Rock students who scored Met or Exemplary on last year’s SC Ready and SC PASS. Students enjoyed an exemplary breakfast, movie, dodge ball, and a dance. Special thanks to Coach Martin, Coach Powell, and the CHS wrestlers for joining our celebration.
We had our traditional Christmas tree lighting today for our students and staff. The children in the group picture have participated in the tree lighting for seven consecutive years.
Tuesday, November 26 will be Hat Day at Flat Rock Elementary sponsored by 2nd grade. Bring $1 to wear your hat to school tomorrow.
Flat Rock students enjoyed a performance by the National Theatre for Children on the importance of energy conservation.
Flat Rock Elementary is participating in the AIM food drive. Students have been given bags for participation. Please consider donating canned and boxed food items. We will run the food drive through next Tuesday, November 26. Thank you for your support.
