
Mrs. Phifer's 3rd Grade class at Starr researched how to create no-sew fleece blanket's using their Chromebooks, and followed steps to create blankets for the Anderson County Animal Shelter! We know of some animals that will be com-fur-table!





Third graders are researching problems within the environment caused by human activities or a natural disaster. They will create a working solution to solve the real world problem they discover.

First graders experienced what it is like to be a Packaging Engineer. They developed packages for their plants so they could mail them to someone special.


K-5 students in Mrs. Mapp's class working hard to visually represent different animals of the Arctic region!




The third grade science classes have been studying about heat energy sources. Using items like a hair dryer, sandpaper and blocks of wood, and even their own hands, students are learning how heat energy can be produced through electricity, friction, and burning.

As Jet Toy continues across the district, we witnessed some amazing prototypes being tested at Starr!

January is board member appreciation month, and we are so very thankful for our board members! Thank you, Curtis Wiles, Danny Owens, Larry Holbrook, Tripp Bouknight, and Marty Watt for your hard work and dedication to the students of Anderson School District Three.


Schools and offices will be closed on Monday, January 21st for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.


December Employee of the Month! Congratulations to Deanna Phifer. Mrs. Phifer is a remarkable asset to our school. She has amazing ideas that she is always willing to share and she puts forth 100% effort to help both her students and her colleagues. She is always positive and is quick to brighten your day.


This week students at Starr Elementary read the book Chrysanthemum to demonstrate how mean words can affect someone. Students promised to be kind to their classmates by placing a bandaid on the heart. "Before you speak, think and be smart. It's hard to fix a wrinkled heart."


Mrs. Fowler's class began designing and building prototypes for the Jet Toy Challenge, and they already look amazing!
