To conclude their unit on using primary and secondary sources, Miss Welborn’s 4th graders collaborated to research a famous person and create a museum exhibit to share with their classmates. 📖✏️🤩

Congratulations to Flat Rock Robotics for placing fourth out of twenty four teams at today’s Anderson Institute of Technology competition. They also won the Judges Award. The Judges Award is presented to a team that the Judges determine is deserving of special recognition. Judges consider a number of possible criteria for this award, such as team displays of special attributes, exemplary effort and perseverance at the event, or team
accomplishments or endeavors throughout the season that may not fit under existing awards but are nonetheless deserving of special recognition.. This team has qualified for the state competition. We are proud of these students and their coach, Lisa Bradford.
Mrs. Swope's students are using their spelling boxes to pop the sounds in a word and blend sounds together using magnetic tiles. 🤩 Afterwards, students read similarly spelled words in their decodable passage. Reading is so much fun! 📖
Welcoming the month of February with the K4 Sweetheart Bakery in Mrs. Kyle and Mrs. Gray's class. 💞😍🍰
During STREAM classes, our 3rd and 4th graders are collecting data through surveys and then working collaboratively to graph the results. 📊📈
Reminder: Friday, February 2nd, is the last day to turn in money for Valentine Grams! 💌 Please reach out to your child's teacher for extra copies if needed.
What better way to wrap up a unit on penguins than to have a 1st grade race... penguin style! 🐧
After spending time researching types of penguins, digging deeper with vocabulary, and creating nonfiction books about penguins, our 1st grade students decided to hold a race from the point of view of a penguin. Instead of racing on foot, students used their bellies to slide across the gym floor on scooters, propelling themselves with their "flippers"; also known as tobogganing.
Each class was awarded with a platinum, gold, silver, or bronze medal for their great efforts in the FRES Penguin Olympics. 🏆
Multilingual Learners will be participating in ACCESS testing this week at Flat Rock Elementary School.
Congratulations to Flat Rock Robotics! Our two teams competed in a field of 24 teams in the Bullpups Vex IQ competition today in Greenville. Team A finished 3rd overall and 4th in skills. Team B finished 11th overall and 10th in skills. Both teams had personal bests today and represented our school well.
We love Reedy! 🐸⚾️
