Congratulations to 2023 Retiree, Mrs. Cynthia Ginn! ๐๐๐
Mrs. Ginn has retired after 20 years of service to Anderson 3. "Cindy" began her career in education as a kindergarten teacher at Iva Elementary before later transferring to Flat Rock upon its opening. More recently, after teaching Reading Intervention for 5 years, she decided she wanted to complete her teaching career as a grade-level teacher, so she returned to 1st grade one last time. Mrs. Ginn and her husband, Dennis, have been married for 48 years. They have two adult children, Leigh and Jeffrey, and five grandchildren ranging from 4 to 14.
"Working in education extends across a wide range of experiences and feelings. At times you are elated when the children are successful and excited about learning. At other times you are concerned and even worried about children who are striving to do well but really struggle. Teaching can also be frustrating when it seems that there is so much to do but so little time. BUT, above all, teaching is very rewarding! Over my 20 years as a teacher in the same district, I've been blessed to see the success of students who may have struggled at first but then excelled and to know that I had a small part in that success."
Thank you for your dedicated service to the students of Anderson 3, Mrs. Ginn. You will be missed! ๐

"What will you miss most, and what is your favorite memory?"
"I will miss the students the most. One of my favorite activities was making Newton's Laws of Motion videos with my 8th-grade Science students. I so enjoyed the kids at Flat Rock and Iva when I was able to teach Apple Science there for a couple of years. I have also really enjoyed getting to work with the children of former students. In my other career paths, I made money. In education, I made a difference."

The flag unfurls, a silent plea,
A symbol of freedom for all to see.
In vibrant hues, it proudly waves,
A testament to the land it saves.
It whispers stories of battles won,
Of heroes standing, united as one.
Through the darkest nights and bravest fights,
It silently represents our rights.
Each stripe a mark of unity,
A nation's strength, diversity.
The stars above, a shining light,
Guiding us through the darkest night.
It waves with grace in gentle breeze,
A symbol of hope that never ceases.
For in its threads, the spirit lies,
A promise of freedom that never dies.
So let it soar, on skies up high,
A beacon of truth, it will never lie.
The spirit of the flag, steadfast and strong,
Silently representing freedom's song.
๐บ๐ธ Happy Independence Day! ๐บ๐ธ

Congratulations to 2023 Retiree, Mrs. Debbie Buchanan! ๐ฝ๏ธ๐
Mrs. Buchanan has retired after 15 years of service to Anderson 3. Debbie was born and raised in Iva, SC, and is a 1978 graduate of Crescent High School. She began subbing in the cafeteria in 2004 before accepting a full-time position at Iva Elementary in 2008. Later, she transferred to Starr Elementary, where she worked as a School Nutrition Operator until her retirement. Debbie and her husband, Terry, have been married for 39 years and have two children, Candace (Brent) and Kelsey (Joseph). They have two grandsons, Hudson and Baylor, with one on the way this summer.
"What will you miss most?"
"I will miss the faculty, staff, and students of Starr Elementary. They are like my family! I also will miss seeing my grandson in the school setting every day. One of my favorite memories was working at Flat Rock during the Covid shutdown, packing bag lunches. I worked with and interacted with people from the district that I do not get to see regularly. It was fun getting to know new people, even during the chaos of the pandemic. Working in the educational setting, no matter what capacity, allows you to watch the students grow and mature from K4 to 5th grade. Seeing their growth throughout the years has been very special to me."
Thank you for your faithful service, Mrs. Debbie! We will miss you at Starr Elementary. ๐
