"A Tough Goodbye": Kristen Fouts Steps Down as Crescent High Volleyball Coach after 13 Years.

Crescent High School, SC — Kristen Fouts, the celebrated head volleyball coach at Crescent High School, has announced her resignation from coaching as she embraces a new challenge as a school counselor. Fouts, who has been a cornerstone of the volleyball program since 2005, initially as an assistant and later as the head coach, will now focus on guiding students in a different capacity.

foutsFouts' legacy at Crescent High is marked by significant achievements and a profound impact on the volleyball program. She steered the program to its first region championship in program history in 2009 while still an assistant. In 2010, she was promoted to head coach and led the Tigers to three consecutive region titles in 2016, 2017, and 2018, as well as eight region runner-ups who finished over her tenure.

foutsUnder her leadership, the team secured a spot in the state playoffs every year, and Fouts was named Region Coach of the Year five times. Her commitment also led her to coach the North/South game in 2017 and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) All-Star game in 2018.

foutsReflecting on her decision, Fouts expressed enthusiasm for her new role, "I never worried about numbers and years…that stuff was never what mattered to me. The family and culture of Crescent Volleyball mattered to me. It has been my entire adult life identity- my baby before a baby. Now, I'll wear the identity of counselor and mommy, but Crescent Volleyball will always be a part of me. While I will deeply miss coaching, I am eager to continue contributing to our community's growth and development in this new capacity."
