Today, Friday, January 27, random canine sweeps were conducted at Crescent High School and Starr-Iva Middle School. Periodically throughout the school year, Anderson 3 will be conducting sweeps as a proactive approach to maintaining a safe learning environment. All planned canine sweeps are conducted without prior notice to families, students, and staff and are done in a minimally disruptive manner to the learning environment. The use of canines does not indicate that a particular school has illegal contraband on campus. Instead, it demonstrates our willingness to remain proactive in efforts to ensure the safety and security of our schools. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

This year, our Math Department, under the leadership of Mrs. Grice, has restarted its Math Olympiad Program. These students compete with over 120,000 students from every state and 39 different countries. The program's objective is to "teach multiple strategies for out-of-the-box problem solving, develop mathematical flexibility in solving those problems, and foster mathematical creativity and ingenuity." In our first contest, Clayton Tilley (Grade 6 ) scored 4/5 in the Elementary Division while Everett Alvidrez (Grade 7 ) and Asher Pamphilon (Grade 8 ) scored 4/5 in the Middle School Division. Kyley Wiles (Grade 7 ) had a perfect 5/5 score in the Middle School Division. We are extremely proud of these students and the restart of our Olympiad Program. We are looking forward to a great competition season!

Mrs. Boyce's and Mrs. Simpson's kids are working on a greenhouse project. Students have already planted carrots and tickle me plants. We are very excited about growing our own vegetables. The greenhouse will be a year-round project. Students have already helped put the greenhouse together and have started filling up the shelves with plants. 🌱🪴

As the 22-23 athletic season has come upon us, we wanted to share some important reminders and safety information for those middle school students and families who plan to attend any athletic event (Middle School or High School) at CHS or SIMS… - Students should be accompanied and monitored by a parent/guardian or assigned adult at all times. Students roaming around the event unaccompanied is not allowed. - Students must have a ride ready to pick them up at the immediate end of the event. Failure to follow this rule could result in a loss of attending future athletic events. We greatly appreciate your attention to this and your help. Together we can continue to make our athletic events a great place to be! Go Tigers!
