Meet 2022 Retiree, Ms. Ann Todd! 🚌🛑🎉 Ms. Todd retired after 26 years as a bus driver in Anderson 3. Ann was raised in Iva and is a product of Anderson 3. Over the years, she has driven a bus and worked in the school in various capacities, ensuring daily operations run smoothly. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, including her two children, four grandchildren, and one great-grandson. "What will you miss most?" "I will miss my wonderful bus family. Over the years, students have shared some of the funniest and heartwarming things while boarding and getting off the bus. Working with students can sometimes be challenging, but it was always worth seeing the smiling faces each day." Thank you, Ms. Todd, for your years of dedicated service in transporting #A3Students. Welcome home, Ms. Jordan Dutton! 🎉🎨🍎 Ms. Dutton is joining the 2022-2023 A3 Teaching Team as the Art Teacher at Iva Elementary. Jordan graduated from Crescent High School in 2018 and recently earned a bachelor's degree in Art Education from Anderson University. She enjoys traveling, reading, spending time with my family and friends, and creating custom art pieces in her spare time. We are excited to welcome Ms. Dutton back to Tiger Town!

Meet 2022 Retiree, Ms. Tammy Vaughn! 📚🎉 Ms. Vaughn has retired after 33 years in Anderson 3. Tammy is a 1983 graduate of Crescent High School. After graduating from Clemson University with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Tammy taught 5-year-old kindergarten and second grade at Starr and Flat Rock Elementary for 21 years. She then transitioned from the classroom into the role of First Steps/Early Learning Coordinator. Over the last 12 years, Vaughn has facilitated the district's 4-Year-Old Kindergarten Program while working to foster and improve reading among early learners through student and parent outreach programs. Ms. Vaughn also obtained a Master's degree in Administration and Supervision from Clemson University. In addition to staying busy with her family and church, she enjoys reading, listening to music, and watching college football and major league baseball. (She has visited a total of 17 MLB parks.) "What will you miss most?" "I will miss the relationships the most. The people who have been a part of my time in Anderson School District Three are a blessing to me. I will miss all of the students, families, and co-workers. I will especially miss being able to greet former students' children as they start school. "What does working in education mean to you?" "It is essential to remember to teach the whole child. I hope I helped make school a place where learning brought joy. I hope I have inspired students to be lifelong learners with a love of books. I can say without hesitation I have loved all of my years at A3. I am so thankful to be a part of the A3 family as a student, an educator, and a small part of the educational path of students and families." Meet 2022 Retiree, Mrs. Susan Brown! 📚🎉 Mrs. Brown is retiring after 21 years with Anderson 3's First Steps, Family Literacy, and Family Support Office. Susan and her husband Stan (a Crescent graduate) moved to the Starr-Iva area 26 years ago. Together they have two daughters, Kaitlyn (Blake) and Caroline, and one grandson, Grier. "What will you miss most?" "The people of Anderson 3 are what I will miss the most! I am thankful for the relationships developed over the years. My 21 years in Anderson 3 have given me many favorite memories of students, staff, and parents. I will never forget the joy, laughter, and tears associated with this special place I will always call home! Working in education is incredibly rewarding, and the families and students have impacted me more than I believe I have had on them." Congratulations on your retirement, Mrs. Brown! Meet 2022 Retiree, Ms. Annette Beard! 🎉 Ms. Beard is retiring after 30 years in education, 12 of which have been spent in Anderson 3. Over the years, she has served in many different roles, including secretary, teaching assistant, and interpreter. Annette is a 1978 graduate of Spartanburg High School and attended Tri-County Technical College. She has two daughters, Kristina (Joel) and Michelle (Randy), and three grandsons. Ms. Beard has worked at the Anderson YMCA since 2004 as a lifeguard, swim instructor, and swim coach. Now that she is retired, she plans to continue to teach swimming lessons and sub in the Crescent Special Education Department. "What will you miss most?" "The family of District 3 and Crescent. This is my favorite district of my career. As Mrs. Hipp says, "This is God's country!" I will miss the students, as we refer to them as our kids. As paraprofessionals and educators, we make a difference in the students' lives even if the difference is not recognized. Welcome home, Ms. Ryleigh Davis! 🎉🍎 Ms. Davis joins our 2022-2023 teaching team as a 1st Grade Teacher at Flat Rock Elementary School. Ryleigh is an Iva native and a 2018 graduate of Crescent High School. She recently earned a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Erskine College. Ryleigh recently got engaged to her boyfriend, Carter Gates. In her spare time, Ryleigh enjoys being outside and spending time with her family and friends. We are excited to welcome Ms. Davis back to Anderson 3!

Meet 2022 Retiree, Mr. Danny Parnell! 🏀🎉 Mr. Parnell is retiring from Crescent High School after 22 years, bringing his total years served in education to 39. Over the years, he has served in many capacities, including a coach, teacher, assistant athletic director, and assistant principal. Danny is a 1977 graduate of Crescent High School. He and his wife Michelle have been married for 28 years. When not serving his school community, Danny enjoys spending time with his family, including four children; Scott (Pilar), Justin (Bree), Ashley, Drew, and three grandchildren. "What will you miss most?" "I love being around young people. Never a dull moment. I'm lucky to be able to continue helping with after-school activities and look forward to staying involved with Crescent. I also have many friends in the school district and hope to keep in touch with them. I've never considered myself to be overly smart. I learn as much from my students, and I am able to teach them. The highlight of teaching to me is the love and hope that I had the opportunity to give to so many students. Each is very special to me." Congratulations on your retirement, Coach Parnell. Meet 2022 Retiree, Mr. Wayne Jefferson! 🎉 Mr. Jefferson is retiring after ten years of service as the facilities lead at Iva Elementary School. Wayne was born and raised in Anderson, SC, and is a 1976 graduate of McDuffie High School. He and his wife Teresa married in 1979 and together have two daughters and three grandchildren. Mr. Wayne previously worked for Bimbo as a breadman for 30 years. "What will you miss most?" "That question is simple, the children and my Iva Elementary family. Seeing the children's smiling faces each morning in the car line starts my day on a positive note. I have enjoyed watching many grow and move on to middle school. I will also miss the people I work with daily to make this school an extraordinary place. Although I do not work in the classrooms with students, being able to serve teachers and build relationships with students in the car line and the hallways means a lot to me. Sometimes a child needs a friendly face or a listening ear when they are having either a good day or a bad day. In short, it is both a mission and a blessing." Join us in wishing Mrs. Betty Paul a Happy Retirement! 🎉🚌 Mrs. Paul is retiring after 30 years of driving the bus route "Iva 3" and working as a school paraprofessional. Betty was born and raised in Starr, SC. She is married to Enoch W. Paul Sr. and the mother of Joshua, Benjamin (Ashley), Felicia, and Alton (Ariel) Davis. Mrs. Betty is grandmother to Aidan, Axton, Addie Faith, Ariah, Elijah, Jeremiah, and grandbaby number 7, arriving in September. "What will you miss most?" "I will miss the little ones who can make you feel like a Superhero every day. I'll miss my bus students always saying, 'don't leave until I graduate,' and our amazing A3 Team and the special bond We've made over our many years together. Working in education is like an investment in our future. So in working with young children, I try making it fun because they remind me of sponges waiting to absorb whatever we spill before them."
