The school year is in full swing, and so is the United Way Weekend SnackPack Program! Friday night begins the Weekend Meal Gap for the most impoverished school-age children, two days when the school lunch programs are not available, and the children have little or nothing to eat. The SnackPack Program fills this gap and provides students with child-friendly, ready-to-eat foods to last them throughout the weekend.
Through the Weekend SnackPack Program, teachers and counselors at Flat Rock and Iva elementary school identify children at the most significant risk of falling into the Weekend Meal Gap. With donations and volunteers, United Way of Anderson County then packs and delivers the SnackPacks to all Anderson County School Districts. This year 30 students at Flat Rock and 36 students at Iva will receive the weekend bags. The United Way has already delivered enough SnackPacks for the entire quarter, ensuring these students will not leave school on Friday without a meal.
We continue to be overwhelmed with gratitude to United Way of Anderson County for continuing to support our students. Please join us in supporting the United Way by donating here: https://www.unitedwayofanderso...
