Mr. Adam Coats, current principal of Starr-Iva Middle School, has been named Human Resources Administrator at the district level. Mr. Coats transitions into this role after six years of dedicated service as the principal of Starr-Iva Middle School.
As Human Resources Manager, Mr. Coats will oversee all Human Resources functions and assist with instructional services. Having a dedicated HR position will allow our district team to adequately serve the growing needs of our staff and students.
Before joining Anderson 3 in 2019, Coats served as a classroom teacher, instructional support specialist, and assistant principal in Anderson School District Five. Adam holds an undergraduate degree from Clemson University, a Masterโs degree with an emphasis in Instructional Technology from Ball State University, and an Education Specialist (Ed.S) Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Clemson University. In addition, he is currently completing his doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Throughout his tenure at Starr-Iva Middle School, Mr. Coats and his team have worked to overcome post-COVID-19 instructional gaps and have made great strides in increasing student achievement. In 2022, Starr-Iva was named a Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School of Excellence. Starr-Iva Middle has retained a โGoodโ rating post-COVID rankings for 2022, 2023, and 2024, as it has ranked 62 out of 325 schools in the state, according to SchoolDigger.com for 2024.
Mr. Coats is married to Kaileigh Coats, a first-grade teacher in Anderson Five. They are proud parents of their daughters, Ansley and Charlie.
A search for Starr-Ivaโs next principal is underway, with a selection to be named in March.
