STEAM Camp 2023
45 Rising 4th, 5th, and 6th Graders participated in this year's STEAM Camp hosted at Crescent High School. Students "Blew off STEAM" with experiments in each class. Students visited rotations in the Science Lab, Media Productions, Robotics/Engineering, Art, PE, and Music. To conclude the camp, students were taken on a field trip to the City of Anderson to visit the Anderson County Library and complete a scavenger hunt downtown. Once again, we are thankful for the support of Bosch. Bosch's Community Grant funded this camp at no cost to the students.
Summer Camp Programs
Approximately 40 A3 students participated in our 4K and Summer Reading Camp. Summer Reading Camp consisted of 2nd and 3rd Graders. United Way of Anderson County Provided Books for all students to read at camp and take home at the end. Students attended related arts each day in addition to their regular reading instruction. Summer Campers were able to maintain and or grow from their Spring MAP scores!
Operations Report
HVAC Project
This summer, Phase I of a 2.8 Million Dollar HVAC Project began with replacing 51 HVAC units at Starr-Iva Middle. The main goal of this capital project was to improve air quality within the school by replacing old units. ESSER (COVID-19) funds supported the project. The project will continue on the weekends as seven units at Iva Elementary are also being replaced this year.
Starr Elementary Painting
After over 25 years, Starr Elementary has said goodbye to the many imaginative murals lining the school hallways. While this is sad for those fond of their creative scenes, it was time for a fresh coat of paint.

Security/Safety Projects at All Elementary Schools
In the summer of 2023, we added fencing and locking gates at our elementary schools to improve the security of our school campuses.
Flat Rock Elementary and Starr Elementary were restriped this summer as well.
Our Maintenance Department replaced every water fountain in the district that did not already have a water bottle filler. This provides convenient access to water for students and staff.
